How do! I'm Kim - 20 years old, from West Cumbria (England). I'm studying English Literature and Creative Writing along with Nici in Lancaster. I did study to be a secondary school RE teacher for a year, but it was an awful course and I switched to this new one! I've always wanted to be an author, but would settle for owning a book shop and/or writing for a magazine! I can be either really lazy, or far too busy and motivated for anyone else to cope with, which is a pain. I've been with my chap (Karl) for 6 years now, and engaged for 2! Moving in with him within the month, which is all very exciting. I'm scared of most things, especially zombies (but I love them too, how tragic). I find it hard to chose my favourite anything, things change daily - so answering the following questions devised by the wonder that is Nici should be interesting, lets see how that goes...:
- Who is your favourite author? - We've failed already. I can't chose one!! I really like: Chuck Palahniuk, Margaret Atwood, Oscar Wilde, Edgar Allen Poe, Alain De Botton, Kurt Vonnegut, Evelyn Waugh...... the list goes on and on and on and on and on....
- Does anything/any one inspire you? - There's quite a few people who inspire me - obviously my family and friends, and Karl. All of the authors I listed above, and many more I didn't. I find inspiration quite randomly, when I'm out and about, or just talking to people. We've learnt to always be open to inspiration in our Creative Writing seminars, which makes it hard to be specific!
- If you had one wish, what would it be? - I could be a really nice person, and say I'd wish for world peace or something like that, but I'll be honest and say I'd wish for a huge amount of money. Not just for me, but I can change a lot of peoples lives with it, and make those I care about a lot happier.
- Favourite food? - Oh god Nici, you know I love almost all food!! How can I answer this. I love to cook and bake, and I'm obsessed with cook books and shows. I tried artichoke for the first time tonight, it's become my new favourite pizza topping (Nici likes it too!)
- Favourite type of film? - Argh I love films!! If I'm not reading I'm usually watching a film. I love the cinema (even more now Nici can get our sweet asses in for free!) and curling up on the sofa at home with Karl and spending the night just watching films. I really like to watch horrors, and usually find myself craving something scary to watch. But I'll watch anything. Favourites at the moment include Inception, Shutter Island, Bronson, Zombieland...
- What do you waste your time on? - Most things. I'm an awful procrastinator. I love to sit and watch videos on YouTube (mostly cooking or beauty related!) and can waste hours on Tumblr. Films and books can have me up all night too.
- Favourite quote? - I have two (although I love most of them!). "Give me rampant intellectualism as a coping mechanism" (Chuck Palahniuk) and "Whatever you dream you can do. Boldness has genuis, power and magic in it. Begin it now" (Goethe).
